Our dancers earn their places in the company through competitive tryouts, ensuring a high standard of talent and dedication. Once selected, they train for a minimum of 1.5 hours weekly during term time, honing their skills and artistry.
- Seniors: Year 7 to Year 9
- Elite: Year 10 to university-age students
Building Skills for Success
Termly tryouts are an integral part of our training approach. These sessions are designed to sharpen audition techniques, preparing dancers for professional challenges like pantomime auditions, dance competitions, and college applications.
A Track Record of Excellence
Many of our past and present Company members have gone on to secure spots in prestigious dance colleges and universities. This success stems from our comprehensive training in a variety of dance styles, including:
- Street Dance
- Musical Theatre
- Theatre Craft
- Contemporary Dance
Additionally, our dancers are fast-tracked through exams, combining technical mastery with expressive artistry.
- Protègèm Dance Company was founded in August 2003 to provide regular perform opportunities for local, talented young dancers.
- Protègèm Dance Company members gain their places through tryouts only.
- Protègèm Dance School was formed in September 2004, following the successes of Protègèm Dance Company and realising that there wasn't much dance training available in the Ewell and surrounding areas!
- Protègèm follows the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) syllabus for dancing exams and usually holds at least 2 exam sessions a year. IDTA is the largest dance organisation and recognised worldwide. All teachers are fully qualified and DBS checked.
